BELL Leadership

   
Dr. Tiffany Cooper Gueye
Chief Executive Officer
Tiffany began with BELL in 1998 and as former Chief Operating Officer, Field Operations, led all program development, service delivery, assessment and evaluation activities, and policy-related initiatives. Through her leadership, BELL's programs and evaluation methods have been nationally recognized as best practices in out-of-school time programming (OST), and she is regarded as an authority on OST learning, measurement, and evaluation. Tiffany is a recipient of Boston College's Donald J. White Teaching Excellence Award and served as an instructor at Johns Hopkins University. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and a Ph.D. in Educational Research, Evaluation and Measurement, both from Boston College.
   
Antonio Battaglia
Chief Operating Officer
Tony comes to BELL with over 20 years of experience with large corporations such as Stone and Webster Engineering Corporation. He is former division president of Arch Wireless, which grew in revenue under his leadership from $200M to $450M. Tony has a B.S. in business administration from Boston College and an M.B.A. summa cum laude in Finance from Ohio University.
   
M. Dean Bradley
Vice President of
Regional Operations
Dean comes to BELL with 20 years of management experience at Kumon North America, Inc., a leading after school education provider with offices across the continent. Dean has a proven ability to produce franchise growth and profitability while ensuring high educational quality for a large-scale academic operation. At BELL, Dean plays a critical leadership role in ensuring quality services, attaining growth targets and achieving outcome goals. Dean received his B.A. in Political Science and French at the University of Toronto, where he graduated with honors.
   
David Jones
Vice President of Human Resources
David joined BELL with over 20 years of experience spanning both the for profit and non profit sectors. In a 17 year career with Eli Lilly and Company, a global pharmaceutical manufacturer, David supported a variety of the businesses in HQ, regional, and international-based HR roles. Prior to Lilly, David spent four years in the non-profit sector working for Exceptional Parent Magazine, an organization focused on the needs of parents of children with disabilities. David earned his B.A. degree in Economics from Harvard University and holds an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
   
Ed Mulherin
Chief Financial Officer
Ed is a CPA, attorney, and founder and CEO of eCratchit Bookkeeping Inc., which provides professional outsourced bookkeeping, accounting, and consulting to businesses and non-profit organizations. Ed is a founding member of Leonard, Mulherin & Greene and is a Shareholder in Innello & Associates, a law firm specializing in business law, estate planning, and real estate matters. Ed provides consulting to BELL and has helped manage BELL's finances and accounts as the organization has grown in revenue to over $23M. Ed is a magna cum laude graduate from Boston College and is a cum laude graduate from Suffolk University Law School. In addition, Ed is a member of the Massachusetts Bar.
   
Carole Prest
Chief Strategy Officer
Carole comes to BELL after serving as the executive director of the Commonweal Foundation, one of the top 10 private foundations in Washington, DC. There, she implemented a board-approved investment strategy focused on at-risk children, and established a capacity-building grant program. Prior to working with Commonweal, she served as president and chair of the Board of the Manor Care Foundation, and the senior vice president of strategy, marketing and product development at Manor Care, Inc. Carole has B.A. from Mount Holyoke College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
   
Orlando Watkins
Chief Development Officer
Orlando brings to BELL more than 15 years of experience in development and non-profit management with a focus on serving schools and neighborhoods in under-resourced communities across the nation. Most recently, Orlando was the Senior Director of Foundation Relations at City Year. Prior to City Year, he served as Vice President of Programs and Grants at the Greater New Orleans Foundation, a key leadership position in the rebuilding of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. In addition, Orlando has served in key leadership roles in several prominent national and local organizations, including an appointment by the governor of Louisiana to the post of Executive Director of Louisiana Service Commission. Orlando is an alumnus of Morehouse College.
   
Brenda Brathwaite
New England Regional Director
Brenda is responsible for all aspects of the summer and after school programs for school sites in the Boston region, including operations in Springfield, MA. She leads the launch and growth of pilot programs, including a summer program designed specifically for boys, and middle school and college initiatives for BELL alumni. Brenda serves on the faculty of the Harvard Graduate School of Education Principals' Center Summer Institutes and is a university supervisor for principal interns. She was a public school principal for 13 years and earned a C.A.G.S. in administration, planning and social policy from Harvard Graduate School of Education.
   
Nadia Bryan
Mid-Atlantic Regional Director
Nadia joined the BELL team as a Site Manager in New York August 2004. As a Site Manager, Nadia managed one of the region's largest sites and was promoted to the position of Deputy Director, where she directed 12 Site Managers. Nadia later became a key member of the management team for the 2007 BELL/Baltimore City Public School Summer Learning Partnership. Now Regional Director, Nadia provides strategic leadership, forges key partnerships with local and national organizations and manages all regional operations. She holds undergraduate and M.S.W. degrees from Florida International University, has 4 years of teaching and school counseling experience, and spent 4 years directing sites with the CAMBA/TASC Renaissance After-School Program.
   
Chris Owens
Tri-State Regional Director
Chris is an active community leader in New York City who has served as Special Assistant to New York City's Council President, served on his local community school board, served as a City Council candidate, and worked for a company specializing in health care for lower-income communities. Chris is former President of the Weeksville Society, an organization dedicated to the preservation of 19th Century houses from Brooklyn's free-Black Weeksville community. For his advocacy on behalf of public education and his leadership in the fight for multi-cultural curricula, Chris is a recipient of both the Certificate of Valued Citizenship from People For The American Way (NY) and a Community Service Award from the Brooklyn Children's Museum. He received a degree in Sociology from Harvard and a Masters of Public Affairs degree from Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
   
Dawn Smith
Michigan Regional Director
Dawn is a Detroit native and has been a leader in the non-profit community for 15 years. In her early career, Dawn was a substance abuse counselor, directed a teen pregnancy and parenting program and managed after school and summer programming for middle school students. In 2002, Dawn joined Communities in Schools (CIS), the nation's largest dropout prevention program, and in her most recent role managed after school academic and enrichment programs at 22 elementary and middle schools in Detroit.
