Position Summary   A BELL tutor provides academic and social support to a cluster of scholars. A tutor also provides scholars with program and curricular continuity after school throughout the academic year.

Major Responsibilities and Duties  
  • Ensure the academic and social development of a cluster of scholars over the course of the school year.

  • Tutor scholars and help them to master grade-level skills in reading, writing, and math using the BELL After School Program curriculum.

  • Serve as a mentor to an assigned cluster of scholars.

  • Develop scholar goals and lesson plans for each scholar in the cluster.

  • Maintain scholar academic portfolios and submit to the Site Manager as required.

  • Keep track of scholars' attendance and behavior.

  • Select and implement a behavior management tool that is appropriate for your cluster.

  • Document observations and complete monthly Progress Report on all scholars.

  • Administer BELL reading and writing quizzes and assessments.

  • Assist in classroom set up and breakdown of classroom each day.

  • Conduct daily attendance checks

  • Plan and deliver daily lessons; photocopy lesson related materials.

  • Attend Staff Meetings and provide program evaluations.

  • Assist on all Field Trips with scholars.

  • Collect and submit data for program evaluation.

  • Ensure that academic and social goals are achieved for all scholars.

  • Maintain classroom supplies.

  • Recognize and reward scholars' effort and good behavior.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements   High School diploma; some college preferred.  At least 1 year experience working with school age children.  Passion to work with BELL Scholars.  Background check and fingerprinting required according to regional standards.
