BELL is driven by the belief that all children Culture can excel. BELL addresses children’s needs by providing world-class core reading, writing, and math skills. BELL currently educates more than 12,000 scholars in 75 public school sites throughout Baltimore, Boston, Detroit, New York, and Springfield, MA. BELL’s corps of educators includes more than 1,000 teachers and tutors.
BELL has been recognized by the United States Senate, the American Federation of Teachers, the American Youth Policy Forum, Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Summer Learning and Fast Company Magazine as one of the premier providers of educational out-of-school time programs.
Core Skills/ The Director of Human Resources will be responsible for leading, designing, planning, directing, Responsibilities communicating, and evaluating all elements of the Human Resource function. This individual will act as a business partner and advisor to senior and cross-functional management teams, and staff.
Specific skills and responsibilities include:
Year One Critical Develop a sustainable talent recruitment pipeline that supports BELL’s aggressive plans for growth. Success Factors Develop a system for talent retention that incorporates succession planning and leadership development.
Experience Candidates should possess a minimum of 10 years of progressive responsible HR and or business experience, with a minimum of 5 years in management/leadership roles in HR. Must have competence in all HR functional areas. A Bachelor’s degree required, and a Master’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred. Demonstrated people management and leadership skills are required. High level of project management skills and excellent consultation and influencing skills are essential. Not for profit experience would be ideal, but not a requirement. Prefer an individual who has worked in a diverse culture and/or has demonstrated experience in advancing diversity initiatives.

Travel Able to travel 25% to 35% per year to all BELL locations. Can extend work hours beyond 40 hours per week as required by business necessities.
