Baltimore Orioles' Al Bumbry Visits BELL   Thursday, July 10th, was National Summer Learning Day, a day of recognition initiated by the Center for Summer Learning at Johns Hopkins University. Organizations around the country celebrated the importance of high quality summer learning programs through events and awareness campaigns. In tandem with the Center for Summer Learning, BELL Summer in Baltimore invited former Baltimore Orioles' outfielder Al Bumbry to come share his love of reading with BELL scholars. Bumbry chose to read the comedic book Duck Soup, followed by his own inspiring words regarding the value of an education. Role models such as Bumbry inspire BELL scholars to reach for their dreams while remembering that the first step is always a solid academic base.
