BELL Co-Founder and CEO to Serve on Governor’s Task Force for Education

Earl Martin Phalen to join Governor Deval Patrick’s Advisory Group for the Commonwealth’s Education Policy

 

BOSTON/NEW YORK/BALTIMORE:  Earl Martin Phalen, Co-Founder and CEO of BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life), was asked to serve on a Task Force created by the Office of Governor Deval Patrick.  The Administration recently gathered experts from the field to advise Governor Patrick’s efforts to improve public education in Massachusetts. 

The Task Force will serve as an advisory group; it will provide counsel on the various challenges confronting Pre-K to Grade 12 education in Massachusetts.  Specifically, the Task Force will advise the Commonwealth’s education-related vision, action agenda, and potential governance structures.  Paul Reville, notable for his work at both the Rennie Center for Education Research & Policy and the Harvard Graduate School of Education, will chair the Task Force. 

Michele M. Norman, Director of Policy in the Office of Education Advisor, notes, “We are seeking open and honest conversations concerning the topics and questions we present in an effort to tap the expertise and experience of Task Force members.” 

Phalen appreciates Governor Patrick’s efforts to seek input from individuals and organizations actively engaged in strengthening America’s public schools.  Moreover, he is eager to assist the Administration define its education platform: “I am honored to serve on the Task Force and to champion strategies that will improve academic performance and close the achievement gap for all students.”
