Kick-Off
An enthusiastic crowd of over 300 guests welcomed the first annual BELL Bowl: Flag Football Challenge to Gillette Stadium on November 6, 2007.  As the skies cleared over the Stadium, the guests began to pour in, setting the tone for a magical evening under the lights.  Co-sponsored by the New England Patriots and Fidelity Investments, BELL Bowl I featured a spirited football competition between twelve teams, each coached by a current or retired Patriots player.  To see the complete bracket of teams who participated, please click here. You can also view photos from the event in our photos and videos section.

The first annual BELL Bowl was featured on National Public Radio´s "Only A Game." The feature, which originally aired on November 24, focuses on how New England Patriots players–including Vince Wilfork, Tedy Bruschi and Jarvis Green–and corporate sponsors led by Fidelity Investments have rallied support for the nationally-acclaimed BELL Summer program. Play-by-Play
Guests of the BELL Bowl entered through The Helmet archway and were met by a high-five from the Patriots mascot, a pompom shake from Patriots Cheerleaders, and a huge smile from BELL scholars.  Taking the tailgate party from the parking lot to the turf, guests had the opportunity to eat, drink, and enjoy the display of athleticism from the sidelines of the field.

Liz Walker of WBZ-TV emceed the event with the energy and fanfare expected of the highly-acclaimed anchor. She led the cheers as active Patriots Tedy Bruschi, Vince Wilfork, and Jarvis Green rushed the field to join the teams they would lead throughout the night. They were joined by Patriots legends Steve Grogan, Andre Tippett, John Smith, Bill Lenkaitis, Steve King, Roland James, and Pete Brock, as well as current players Kyle Eckel and Stephen Gostkowski, all who enthusiastically devoted their time and expertise as coaches at the BELL Bowl.

Fifth-grade BELL scholar Lowrens Fleury kicked of the tournament by playing the National Anthem on his trumpet, encouraged by the support received as all guests joined in singing. This moving performance was mirrored later in the evening as Jawaan Johnson, a former BELL scholar, shared a few words with the crowd about how BELL positively impacted his life. All proceeds from the BELL Bowl will benefit the BELL Summer Program, enabling more youth to benefit from the educational opportunities that transformed Lowrens and Jawaan into scholars and leaders.

Final Score
After four rounds of competitive play, Castanea Partners took home the very first BELL Bowl trophy, defeating the Patriots front-office team. The trophy was presented to the winning team by BELL CEO and Co-Founder Earl Martin Phalen at an afterparty in the Patriots´ lounge.
