July 25, 2008 - Springfield Falcons forward Colin McDonald visited with kids from Milton Bradley Elementary School in Springfield on Friday, July 25 during the school's summer program.  McDonald spoke for about 30 minutes stressing the importance of working hard in school and maintaining good grades during their academic year.

"A friend of mine from my hometown in Connecticut is involved with the program and she called me to see if I was interested in visiting with the kids," said McDonald, who was born and raised in Hartford, CT.  "I was excited to talk with the kids and hopefully give them some guidelines that will help them during the school year.  As athletes, we are fortunate to be given a platform in which we can help make a difference with kids."

Following his time with the youngsters, McDonald signed autographs for all of the kids and took some extra time to meet with teachers and faculty at the school.

"From everything the teachers told me, this summer program for the kids impacts their lives so much," said McDonald, who will be attending Edmonton Oilers training camp in September.  "I enjoy being active in the community and it's something I will continue to do during the season once again as well."
